Blog 6 Truman Show

There are many similarities between the real shows like Survivor, The Real World, and The Bachelor some similarities like the filming of a persons life and how they live it. Same as for the Truman show there filming his life each and everyday placing it on t.v like a t.v show for the world to see. The Diffrence is that Truman is living a false reality since birth. They built an entire world to film his life and put it on t.v. Living with false parents and friends. Each person is acting like there living there lives but there not. Trumans life is similar to The Matrix. His and Neos life was both computerized, feeding in diffrent codes and formulas into the machine for it to change the wheather, or make it from day to night and back. With out realizing nothing.

Fate or Free Will? what would you choose, do you think you are choosing how you want to live your life? or is it just fate that your are where you are now? I believe in Fate. Manyt people believe in Free Will because people have there own decision on to choose between two things. If they either want to go, well lets say the path on the left or the path on the right. A Person has the ability to choose between the two paths. But Schick has good reason to say that, even though we have a choice it was our destiny or it was our fate to choose that path either the left or the right. We arent really free if our life has already been written we are just following the "story". A person can not escape thier destiny or fate. I believe in fate for the fact that when i was younger i would high grades to go into a good university a four year college to takr up Archetectury. Since i started my freshmen year in high school, I would work my butt off, study, do homeworks, etc, but graduated with a 75.98 avg. and wasn't accepted to any of the four year colleges. That is why i believe that my life will take its own course evenm if i choose between one thing or the other.

I've read the pages 55-65 in The Matrix and Philosophy and Garcia and Sanford used words such as "Source" and "Ontological". I bet youe like What the heck is that or what does it mean? Well I read over it a few times like 2 or 3 times and i understood that Ontological Status and Source are used to ditinguish the Metaphysical between the "real" and the "unreal" categories. Source is where everything began. We know that the matrix is a computerized program made by AI(Artificial Intellgent) Machines. More we Know that we see a human and we know that he/she was born from his/her parents. The source is where everything comes from, the beginning of everything. Ontological Status is the way things exist. To understand it more the real word in The Matrix doesnt depend on anything to exist. Its stands alone by itself. The real world doesnt depend on anything. While the world of the matrix the computer generated "real world" does depend on something. It Depends on the machines and the Artificial intelegent machines. Thats how u can distinguish betwenn the "real" and the
"unreal".

Blog 3: Are we leaving in the matrix?

Can we really possibly be leaving in the matrix? Is what we see outside, smell, hear, touch, and what we eat real? How do you know if we are or arent leaving in the matrix? Is it because we can touch something thing and explain its texture make it real? We live our lives as if everything infront of us is real...what if we all found out that we live in the matrix that all the years we have live is all fake? that 18 years of our lives were nothing but computer simulations to make us think that we are really living in actual reality. Page 50 of the book The Matrix and Philosophy it quotes words said by Morpheus in the movie. " What is real? How do we define real? If your talking about what you can feel, What you can smell, What you can taste and see then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain". In the movie The Matrix Morpheus says that body can not live with out the mind. The mind is what is telling you that what you are holding, smelling, tasting, hearing, seeing is real. The matrix is only a prison for your mind you can have your mind run freely but your mind can never tell the diffrence between reality and " The Matrix".

Matrix Review

In The Matrix there many idea or themes that come across. Some might be religious themes or Philisophical. A religious theme that comes across is jesus. Neo in The Matrix is considered as the One or the savior, like jesus was to his disciples. Trinity plays a major role in the movie but her name can signify as being anything that has to do with three things or people. Like The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. In The Matrix Neo dies and ressurects just as jesus did. Neo can also be compared to Socrates a philosopher in 500B.C. Socrates a wise man whos questions alot of people. Just as neo did when he was reborn or ressurected the first time he was brought into the real world, Neo did not know anything. Socrates went to an oracle and asked if there was someone who is wiser then him. the oracle replyed and said that he is the wisest there is no one wiser. Socrates then left in search of someone wiser and found out that he is the wisest. Neo had a familar experience when he went to see the oracle, the oracle said that he wasnt the one. Neo went on believing that he's not that one, and later finds out he is. Socrates and Neo doubted themselves but proved themselves wrong later on. The Matrix can also relate to Socrates Cave. When people are chained in the cave forced to look at a blank wall where behind them is only a small fire. Between that fire is a walk way where the people chained would only see the shadows of those who walk by. They wouldnt know who they would be or what animal might be crossing. If one person would be let free they wouldnt know anything about the real world they would be confused. Same as in The Matrix Neo was confused when he was freed from his chains. If your in the matrix how would you know if that people your looking at are real? How would you know that everything around you is real? How would you know whats real or whats not?

If i was in Socrates cave and i was chained i wouldnt know where im at i would have memories from where i came from. I would know that im chained up because for years i would b able to move restricted to one position day after day. In Socrates cave i am forced in a still position to stare at a blanket wall, and all i can see is shadows casted by people walking behind me....i would assume im in a cave by the rocky texture of the wall and how the foot steps of people would echo from the distance. i would know theres a fire behind me by how the light flickers on the wall and how a shadow would flicker as well when a person walks by.
